Cassidy Bosch of Mclean, Va., is a part of every aspect of the Washington International Horse Show this year. Not only is she a member of the 2018 WIHS Junior Committee, but also she is currently one of the top qualifiers for the WIHS $10,000 Children’s Hunter Championship with her horse, Convinced. Bosch says she is really excited to be a part of one of her favorite horse shows and attend all the different events such as Barn Night, while supporting other exhibitors. This is Cassidy’s first year on the WIHS Junior Committee, and she is happy to a part of the team for one of her favorite horse shows.

This will be Cassidy’s second year showing in the WIHS Children’s Hunter Championship. Last year, she qualified as a wild card by winning champion at the WIHS Regional Horse Show and USHJA Zone 3 Championship. Cassidy explained that she had only been riding her horse, Convinced, or Kyle, for a month so she will feel much more prepared this year and she hopes to “redeem herself”.

Cassidy and Kyle, a 13-year old Swedish Warmblood, have proven themselves within the past ten months with various tricolors in the Children’s Hunters, as well as top placings in numerous National Hunter Derbies. Cassidy generally describes Convinced as “absolutely amazing”.

“He is very easy going and loves to listen. He is very compliant to what I ask, even if it is a risky decision, he trusts me a lot,” said Cassidy. Convinced is Cassidy’s first horse before previously showing in the pony hunters.

Cassidy’s interest in horses sparked when driving past a horse farm on her way to church. She then immersed herself in equine literature, reading books about ponies and how to ride horses. At age six, she started taking riding lessons. Cassidy, now 16, rides with Tracy and Tom Brennan at Vineyard Haven Farm  located in Round Hill, Va.

“Cassidy and Convinced have been in a lot of new situations with each other and they both find a way to rise to the occasion. It has been a pleasure to watch them come together as a team and I am so excited to cheer them on at indoors. It is a real accomplishment to be leading the standings and they are only getting better!” said Tracy Brennan.

Cassidy said Tracy and Tom Brennan have been tremendous help, and she looks forward to accomplishing her goals with them for years to come. Cassidy plans to continue to improve on Kyle and move up to the Junior Hunters.

As a rising junior at the Potomac School in Mclean, Va., she describes her school as very rigorous and challenging, but she has mastered her education by excelling in school. Horseback riding is Cassidy’s main focus, but because of her challenging educational workload, she can’t spend as much time in the saddle as she would like. If Cassidy doesn’t have enough time to go to the barn she stays in shape for riding by doing workouts at home.
