2007 Show Concludes with My Little Dickens Earning The Grand Pony Hunter Championship

(Washington, DC) October 14, 2007 -- The 49th Annual Washington International Horse Show wrapped up after a week of competition today. The show finished with the Small Pony Hunter division sponsored by Gotham North, the Medium Pony Hunter division, and the Large Pony Hunter division as well as the WIHS Pony Equitation Finals.

Championship honors in today's Small Pony Hunter division were awarded to My Little Dickens, ridden by Kara Chad followed by Reid Patton riding First Edition claiming the Reserve Championship. The Medium Pony Hunter Championship was clinched by Meredith Darst aboard All About Me with Kara Chad riding Heart's Desire earning the Reserve Championship. Vanity Fair, ridden by Lillie Keenan won the Large Pony Hunter Championship with Victoria Colvin and Sunday Best garnering the Reserve Championship.

Earning the auspicious honor of Grand Champion Pony Hunter was My Little Dickens ridden by Kara Chad. With her multiple wins throughout the two days of pony hunter competition, Kara Chad also received the prestigious Best Child Rider on Pony Award for 2007.

The WIHS Pony Equitation Finals saw 25 starters with Taylor Ann Adams, riding her large pony Mokoo Jumbee, taking first place honors. Finishing second was Lucille Oken aboard Hi Lite with Frances Land riding Look At Me rounding out the top three.

The WIHS wrapped up with the final classes of the competition, which included the Local Hunter Finals (Pony) and the Local Hunter Finals (Horse). Champion of the Local Hunter Finals (Pony) was Sophie Gali riding Legally Blonde, followed by Reserve Champion, Tantallon Plus Tax, ridden by Katlynn Butler. Trebuchet piloted by Samantha Rizzi received the Champion title in the Local Hunter Finals (Horses) with Reserve Champion honors awarded to Socialite, ridden by Morgan Dvorkin.
